In Africa, Non-Governmental Organisations have played a leading role in provision of health and education, thus becoming a key actors in responding to poverty and related suffering.
NGOs continue to grow rapidly in Africa and around the globe, over the years we have seen more that 100,000 registered NGOs in South Africa alone.

ActionAids:is an international organisation, working with over 15 million people in 45 countries for a world free from poverty and injustice.
With head office based in Johannesburg ActionAids becomes the only international development organisation with head office based in Africa.

AIDS Consortium was established in 1992 by Justice Edwin Cameron, as a network organisation primarily to serve people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS.Since its establishment AC has become one of the largest non-government organisation (NGO) networks in South Africa, serving over 200 affiliated members in the HIV, AIDS and Human Rights sectors. AC served as the South African Linking Organisation of the International HIV/AIDS Alliance (IHAA), and currently represents its network on the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC) as the NGO Sector Leader, and is an accredited training service provider.

LifeLine Johannesburg provides professional assistance and guidance in resolving personal or psychological problems and connects well with people, thus equipping them with tools they need to better handle stress and improve their emotional health.
Over the years LifeLine Counselling services have expanded from Telephone counselling to include face to face sessions and group training interventions that help people deal with issues facing them, before they become crisis.
And just like LifeLine Johannesburg there more than 15 centres countrywide run by LifeLine, and these centres operates autonomously in respond to local need.
Johannesburg centres are in Norwood, Alexandra and Soweto and they are well staffed by over 275 highly trained volunteer counsellors, peer educators and victim empowerment supporters who give their time to ensure that we meet the ever-increasing demand for our services.
