NSFAS opened its 2027 applications on 18 September 2026, and more than 51,000 were completed in the first four days. NSFAS has said the window closes on 31 October 2026 with no extension, although some earlier reports gave 18 November, so confirm the date on nsfas.org.za and apply well before it. You can apply on the NSFAS website or its mobile app (Android and Apple). Gather your ID, academic records and parental proof of income first, and make sure you submit the application after uploading your documents, because an upload that isn’t submitted is not received. Funding outcomes are expected in December, and students who don’t qualify for an NSFAS bursary may look at the missing-middle loan scheme.
